The Yellow River Rail-road Bridge, one of the controlling projects of the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway, is under construction, according to local reports.

At a cost of 1.82 billion yuan ($264 million), the bridge is designed to traverse Pinglu county in Shanxi and Shanzhou district in Sanmenxia, and has a total length of 5,664 meters, with 1,143-meter-long main bridge.

According to Wang Hongyi, the project manager, the construction started in August 2015 and is scheduled to be finished and open to the public by 2020.

After construction, the bridge will be open for two double rail lines, Mengxi and Yunsan, and the upper part will consist of a six-lane expressway with a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour.

The bridge is being constructed by China Railway Construction Corporation.

Mengxi-Huazhong Railway starts in Haolebaoji, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and runs to Ji'an, Jiangxi province. The railway line was a key part of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) and will primarily transport coal from north to south.
